Match: Knutsford 3 Away to Congelton Bear Town 1

Interesting , the Hair Bear bunch have a squad of 6 players ! , we have a cast of thousands and with around 15 players absent this week , could the thirds about to be knocked out of their promotion spot ?? With reasonable availability we would breeze this league , but due to the Knutsford affluence would we fall short ............. sadly , read on .
First up at 5 , Mr David Moore . Dave had heard rumours of the player shortage and had been sat by his phone all week waiting for a call from the fourths . Hence his surprise when Capt Jacko informed him he was in the thirds !! . Never mind sported Dave , my seat at the team dinner is assured . And worthily so , Dave toyed with his opponent 8-10 / 10-9 / 8-10 , before getting his sword out and running him through 9-0 to get us off to a flyer .
Next at 4 our youth policy David O'Brien . Hitting the ball with missile proportions , David blasted his opponent into a 2-0 submission , yikes !! . Then the crafty Bear slowed the game back and pulled back to 2-2 . Great effort from David but just edged out in the fifth , one a piece . ps DOB is my tip for the Handicap winner !
The no. 1's on next , and a reluctant Jacko who knows he's ok at no. 1 on the dancefloor and telling stories .... is not really a squash no. 1 . Anyway after 2 minutes Jacko demolishes the Bears player of the season 9-0 in the first . Looking up to the balcony he explains " yes it is me ! " . OK I lost the next 9-0 ( all square , squash is like that ) . Two closer games followed but a 3-1 to the Bears ( Boo boo ) .
Thommo next at 2 , against an opponent who was intent on getting in the way , pushing , shoving , barging , and mishitting for England . After just missing out in the first 10-8 , the bruising and battering on Graham put him off his game , but he graciously kept his cool , 3-0 to the opposition
So last on at 3 , Nick Johnson . A really interesting game , again sums up squash . Great rallies , energy , effort , Nick is so much improved , but ..... only got 2 points ?? not embarrassed , just that at the end of each rally , the other guy finally won the point ? Squash is so strange !
In conclusion , a 19 - 6 defeat , great efforts from our team - thank you , and good festive board at the Bear Town pub , nice ale , ok sandwiches , and the Bears were friendly not Grizzly , cheers Bill
