Half Term match report

Time to reflect and analyse the performance at the half way stage.

Availability system is working well and helps the captains enormously to field the strongest teams possible - it doesn't work without your help so please update your availability ASAP! There's a couple of players out there capable of significantly adding to the overall strength - KSC needs you!!

Pre-season predictions in red and half term comments in black

The first team is in Division 3 along with 6 other 1st teams from other clubs making this a tough league. It's great to have Glen back and to welcome Liam to the club for the first time. Providing we can get this team (our strongest) out on a regular basis and with some very capable reserves from the seconds then my prediction for our first team is top half of the table and possibly a promotion place. As predicted a tough league! Played 11 won 6 lost 5 points for 133 and in 6th position but only 38 points off a promotion place - no team running away with this league. There's a real need to maintain focus here and to turn around two narrow 3-2 losses and push up the table. Strong availability will assist the other teams.

The second and third teams are in the same league (so to speak!). The seconds is a strong looking team and has a good chance of pushing for promotion but needs to be out of the traps early with no dropped games - momentum is the key. It will also be able to call on 3rd team members who will be experienced and match hardened at this level. Seconds unbeaten and top of the league (but only 14 points ahead of second place)! A couple of very narrow wins when availability was limited but job half done. Can K2 go all the way undefeated - Prestbury and the ever improving Alderley Edge will try to ruin the party.

The thirds are newly promoted to Div 4 and as such will be severely tested, again providing we can keep availability high there's a strong squad, with some very keen "youngsters" and a mid-table position should be targeted. Won 4 Lost 6 in 9th position but only 15 points behind 6th - need to tighten up and get the best out of the team on the night otherwise it might be up and down in one season!!

The fourth team as always will fluctuate enormously as demands from the other teams takes players away. However, there's depth in the availability and we're still missing some players who I'm sure would perform well at this level. Won 3 Lost 6 (4 of these were 3-2) - very disappointing given the strength and numbers of players available. Beat top of the league AP Club 1 and lost to AP Club 2!!

Thanks to all players who have been available but have not got a game your commitment is important.

For the second half I will be watching mainly from afar but with modern communications I'll be monitoring the results avidly.

Captains can we have a meeting on Thursday 5th Jan during the get-together?
