The motley Crewe were looking to avenge their shock first half defeat. David O'Brien started us off at 5 against Rob. It took him two games to work out a strategy, two more to implement it, and only lost the fifth owing to run on nicks for Rob - unlucky! Graham Thomson at 4 faced Ben, whose heavily strapped knee seemed to be a ruse 'cos it didn't stop him motoring to a 3-0 win. Geoff Dalton at 3 to stop the rot? 9-0 in the first was promising, the lob serve doing the trick. But opponent Ian worked it out eventually, upped the pace and won at a canter 3-1. Gwyn Pickering at 2 narrowly lost the first two against Andy, but worked hard to cut down the tin count to level at 2-2: could he snatch a victory? Sadly no, 2-9 in the fifth spoiled an excellent recovery. Finally at 1 Graham Hunter Looked to be cruising against Mervyn, 9-4 in the first, narrowly lost the second 9-10, but Mervyn the wizard worked some magic to win it 3-1. All in all some good matches but only 6 points to show for it. Tasty chilli though!
