Match: Knutsford 4 Home to Alderley Edge 5

The Frabjous Fourths put out a strong side against the Edgemen. First Ian Hopkins at 5 continued his return to fitness with a comfortable 3-0 win over newcomer Mark. David O'Brien at 4 faced Dan Clarke for the nth time this season, losing the first but fighting back strongly, only to lose the second 8-10 and losing his way a bit in the third 1-9. Geoff Dalton at 3 started strongly, you could say, movingly coolly to match point 8-1 in the third. Salvaging defeat from such a position takes some doing but unfortunately Geoff managed it, crest well and truly fallen. 2-1 down, and Gwyn Pickering at 2 faced Tim the Whippet. In a fast-moving game the lead went back and forth but ultimately Gwyn went down 3-1 and the match was lost. Finally Neil Robinson at 1 took on Athletic Adam Slade, experience versus youth, with Neil supplying the touch shots and Adam chasing absolutely everything. Again the lead see-sawed, but at 2-1 down Neil dug deep to level the match - too deep as it transpired, no puff left for the decider, a 3-2 loss. 8 valuable points secured, but victory still elusive!
