Prestbury 2 v Knutsford 3

GRITTY DISPLAY FROM JACKO GIVES THIRDS FOUR VALUABLE POINTS AGAINST TOP OF THE TABLE PRESTBURY

After last week's defeat and again fielding a weakened team  Knutsford thirds can hold their heads up after this gritty performance against a strong Prestbury team.

First on again wasPickeringagainst the lofty Maher. From 1-0 down he pulled on his reserves of strength to level  the game at 1-1. After a lo of to-ing and fro-ing,in the second, Maher began to take control  and althoughPickeringnever gave up the gap widened and Maher came out on top 3-1. At least another point in the bag.

Next on was JACKO who as a last minute replacement was all fired up for this one against the ageing marathon runner Hunter.. He started like a rocket taking the first two with ease playing some great winners along the way. From 5-0 down in the third, the athletic Hunter fought back to level the game 2-2. By this time Jacko had run out of steam and having given his all in the early stages  of the game went down 3-2, having given his all for two very valuable points.

Next on the overweight Robinson against the far too fit Bartle. Robinson started well and after some lengthy rallies took the first 9-5 but a series of longer rallies in the second took its toll and Robbo eventually went down 3-1 after almost coming back in the fourth to level the game.  Another point in the bag though.

Smithy had his work cut out against Beale at two. Beale started strongly and took the first game 9-0 with ease with Smithy making some costly unforced errors. Smith began to get to grips and although losing the second 9-3 began to play some much better squash. Same pattern in the third as Smith tried to get the game but a little but went down 3-0. Smith still getting used to the pace in the higher division

Walton's first performance of the year on his return from injury was always going to be difficult at 1 against the top of the table team.  He started well enough and gave his best throughout but went down 3-0 against a stronger Quartery. Lacking match fitness but on his way back.
